What we collect

Nothing that identifies you. We don't ask you to sign up, we don't run our own accounts, and we have no database of our own.

We do send the Pal names you look up to our analytics (see below) — not tied to you, just counted. Knowing that a hundred people looked up a Pal we cover badly is the only way we learn what to fix. That is the entire reason it's collected.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4. It stores cookies in your browser (named _ga and similar) and sends Google a randomly generated device id along with the page URL, the page you came from, your approximate location and your browser and device type. It never receives your name or email — we never ask for them.

Alongside page views we record what the calculator was asked: the Pal you picked, the two parents you compared, and search text that matched no Pal. That last one is deliberate — it's how we find names we're missing. We send nothing else you type, because there is nothing else to type: the only input on this site is a Pal name.

You can opt out with Google's browser add-on, or by blocking googletagmanager.com in any content blocker. The calculator works exactly the same either way — nothing on this site depends on analytics loading.

Advertising

We may show ads to keep the site free. Ad providers may use cookies to measure and serve ads. Where required, you'll be asked for consent first, and you can decline. We'll update this section with the specific provider before ads go live.
